Ash Panesar’s return to Walford has already created plenty of tension for the Panesar family, and things are set to get even more heated as Suki becomes increasingly suspicious of her daughter. Monday’s episode sees Ash unexpectedly learn about Denise Fox’s (Diane Parish) diagnosis after she overhears Amy Mitchell (Ellie Dadd) and Avani Nandra-Hart (Aaliyah James) arguing. Ash offers Denise some much-needed reassurance, but it isn’t long before she has another problem to deal with: her mother. Meanwhile, preparations are underway for Nugget Gulati’s (Juhaim Rasul Choudhury) birthday celebrations at Harry’s Barn. As the family gets ready for the big occasion, Suki makes a confession to Eve, revealing that she has contacted Gigi as she continues searching for answers about Ash. However, it appears Suki isn’t prepared to let the matter drop. Nugget is delighted when he is surprised with his birthday party, but the celebrations soon become uncomfortable when Suki begins questioning Ash. Ash quickly realises that her mum has been snooping into her life, and she is far from happy about it. Suki rejects her daughter’s request, but Ash soon finds another way to get what she wants. She approaches Nugget, who has now inherited the business, and manages to persuade him to hire her instead. Ash later drops the bombshell on Suki, leaving her mum furious that she has managed to go around her. Despite Eve’s attempts to keep the peace between the pair, the tensions continue to escalate as Suki refuses to accept Ash’s new role. Suki turns to Nugget and attempts to persuade him to reconsider his decision to employ Ash, putting him directly in the middle of the family feud. Denise collapses, and Ash immediately springs into action to help her. Could Ash’s quick thinking prove to Suki that her daughter deserves another chance, or will it only add further fuel to their growing feud? Ash’s turbulent relationship with Suki has long been a major part of her EastEnders story. The character originally leaves Walford in 2023 after taking up a new medical job in Canada, before making her return to Albert Square three years later. Ash is now played by Sakira Vel, who takes over the role for the character’s 2026 comeback. Gurlaine Kaur Garcha previously played Suki’s daughter between 2019 and 2023.
