These Anniversary Editions preserve “the original look, feel and creative intent of the game” but also have quality-of-life updates to support modern systems and controls and improve performance, according to EA.The seven new editions were “inspired” by the discovery of a “physical media vault” with “thousands” of Betacam, VHS, and D1 tapes and “other media assets,” EA says. As part of the digitization process, EA was able to recover master FMV sequences and reedited them to restore more than 1,500 scenes from the games. The updated Wing Commander games also officially incorporate some community-made mods. You’ll be able to get the Road Rash and Wing Commander Anniversary editions for $9.99, and the other classic games, including Ultima and Crusader titles, will be available for $4.99. You can grab them on Steam, GOG, and the EA App.Here’s the full list of 25 games:Road Rash: 30th Anniversary EditionWing Commander: 35th Anniversary EditionWing Commander II: Vengeance of the Kilrathi: 35th Anniversary EditionWing Commander III: Heart of the Tiger: 30th Anniversary EditionWing Commander IV: The Price of Freedom: 30th Anniversary EditionWing Commander Prophecy: 30th Anniversary EditionPrivateer 2: The Darkening: 30th Anniversary EditionWing Commander: PrivateerWing Commander: AcademyWing Commander: ArmadaStrike CommanderTheme HospitalCrusader: No RemorseCrusader: No RegretUltima I: The First Age of DarknessUltima II : The Revenge of the EnchantressUltima III: ExodusUltima IV: Quest of the AvatarUltima V: Warriors of DestinyUltima VI: The False ProphetUltima VII: The Complete EditionUltima VIII: Gold EditionUltima IX: AscensionUltima Underworld IUltima Underworld IIFollow topics and authors from this story to see more like this in your personalized homepage feed and to receive email updates.Jay Peters
