Dad, 55, found dead after being electrocuted while working at five-star hotel is pictured as pals pay tribute

TRIBUTES have been paid to a dad and “true gentleman” who was tragically found dead after being electrocuted while working at a luxury seaside hotel. Emergency services were scrambled to the five-star Harbour Hotel in Southampton, Hampshire, on Thursday, August 13, after Jason Gledhill was injured while working. The 55-year-old, from Denton, Manchester, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. His tragic death has led to an outpouring of tributes from Denton St Lawrence Cricket Club, where he was described as a “true all-round club-man.” Cops cordoned off the hotel entrance with signs reading ‘danger’ put up outside the building Credit: Solent Jason’s cricket club offered their condolences to his wife and daugher Credit: Solent A spokesperson said: “It is with great sadness that we share the news that one of our much-loved and highly respected members, Jason Gledhill, sadly passed away on Thursday 13th August. “Jason was a true all-round club man and someone who always had time for everyone. “He gave so much of himself to our club over the years and played an important part in so many areas. “More importantly, he was a friend to so many and a familiar, welcoming face who will be remembered with enormous affection. Most read in The Sun “His passing is a huge loss to the club and all those who had the pleasure of knowing him. He will be greatly missed. “Rest in peace, Jason. You will always be remembered as a true gentleman and will be greatly missed by everyone at the club.” The club also offered its condolences to Jason’s wife Paula, daughter Georgina and his wider family and friends. Phone lines at the waterfront hotel were temporarily unavailable as a result of the incident, with guests also advised to use an alternative entrance. Cops cordoned off the hotel entrance and placed signs warning of “danger” outside. At the time of the incident, three fire engines, two ambulances, an air ambulance, a police van and electrical engineering van were all at the scene. A van from Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN) also arrived and engineers appeared to investigate an outdoor utility room. Police officers investigated a red Kia Proceed parked nearby and removed a yellow ladder from its boot before covering it in tarpaulin.
