On Friday, July 31, the action begins with Tejaswin Shankar competing in his 110m hurdles discipline in decathlon. TJ was injured in his very first event of the competition, which threatened to throw him out of the CWG 2026 all together. But Tejaswin battled through and returned 2 days later for his second event - decathlon. He detailed his comeback, explaining how all other Indian athletes came to him and asked him about his injury, offering prayers and advice. It made him feel a bigger part of the Indian team. Bouyed by the support, TJ returned and now stands second in the list of deacthlon athletes in the CWG 2026. He might even win a medal today. PREETI PAWAR The next on the list is Preeti Pawar, who takes on Zimbabwe's Catherine Mwape at 4:15 pm IST. Many boxers will follow today for their medal rounds, but the mood will be set by Pawar. Here's what he had to say: The Commonwealth Games final resembles an Olympic podium relocated to Glasgow. Four Olympic medallists. One, Rumesh Pathirage, who looks a lock to join that club at the next Olympics. Among this star-studded field stands Neeraj Chopra and his two compatriots. Neeraj couldn't have asked for a better field to prove he is still the man to beat. And he couldn't have asked for a better venue to prove he remains one of the masters of tackling foul conditions. After the lows of an injury-marred eighth-place finish at last year's World Championships, and after parting ways with the legendary Jan Zelezny, Neeraj chose a reset. He brought back his first coach, Jai Chaudhary, the man who put a javelin in his hand at Panipat's Shivaji Stadium years before the medals started arriving, into a coaching set-up he now runs entirely on his own terms. He began the season in Doha after a lengthy injury layoff with a commendable fourth-place finish. Click on this link if you want to read more about the men's javelin final. Jul 31, 2026 12:27 ISTCWG Live: India events todayAfter Tejaswin Shankar's event, the action will move onto boxing and judo. India are competing in 5 judo events which start at 3:30 pm, and we are in medal contention there. The 4x400m mixed relay team will be in action as well at 4:15 pm IST. The medal rush begins today at 7:15 pm, where multiple boxers will take the ring. The star event of the day - javelin - starts at 12:45 am IST. Jul 31, 2026 12:24 ISTCommonwealth Games LiveThe action kicks off today with Tejaswin Shankar, who has put in a heroic effort despite facing a knee injury. Tejaswin had a niggle on his right knee during the high jump event, which threatened to force him out of the Games. The athlete however doubled down to pull off an incredible comeback in the men's decathlon, and currently stands in the 2nd place in the leaderboard. We will explore his story in detail a little bit later. Tejaswin Shankar will be in action at 2:35 pm today. Jul 31, 2026 12:21 ISTIndia at Commonwealth GamesHello and welcome to the live coverage of the Commonwealth Games 2026. This is Kingshuk Kusari and I am starting this coverage early because this is the single most important day in India's CWG 2026 campaign. Why do I say that? Because India are playing 10 boxing matches, where medals are already assured. These matches are spread across the day, so stay put. Furthermore, India are in medal contention in javelin, judo, and decathlon as well. All in all, this promises to be a blockbuster day.
