‘Crystal Lake’ trailer: Linda Cardellini becomes Pamela Voorhees in ‘Friday the 13th’ prequel series

Linda Cardellini stars as Pamela Voorhees, Jason’s mother, as she struggles with grief nearly a year after her young son drowned at Crystal Lake.The trailer follows Pam as two strangers arrive at her home and begin asking questions about her past. Their investigation sets off a chain of events around Crystal Lake, where memories of Jason’s drowning continue to haunt the community. Pam’s grief gradually turns into rage as the mystery surrounding her family deepens.The footage also brings the franchise’s familiar horror machinery back into play, with campers, bloodshed and ominous activity around the lake. Callum Vinson plays young Jason Voorhees, whose death remains the central trauma shaping Pam’s increasingly violent path.Crystal Lake expands the story of Pamela Voorhees, the original killer from Sean S. Cunningham’s 1980 Friday the 13th. Betsy Palmer played the character in the original film, where Pamela’s revenge campaign was revealed as the force behind the murders at the camp.Brad Caleb Kane, who previously worked on It: Welcome to Derry, created the series and serves as showrunner, writer and executive producer. The cast also includes William Catlett, Devin Kessler, Cameron Scoggins and Gwendolyn Sundstrom.Kane has described the series as a psychological thriller with the DNA of a slasher, drawing on the paranoid atmosphere of 1970s cinema while expanding the mythology around Pamela, Jason and Crystal Lake. The show also features the return of characters and elements from the original franchise alongside newly created figures.All eight episodes of Crystal Lake premiere on October 15, 2026, with distribution for India yet to be confirmed.
