Cops shoot ‘woman who stabbed two people’ in Times Square in front of horrified tourists as 2 fighting for life

A KNIFE-WILEDING woman allegedly stabbed two people in a sick knife rampage through Times Square before being gunned down by police. Terrified tourists screamed officers opened fire on the woman at 4:27pm. Credit: Getty Eyewitnesses said a woman carrying two knives had been threatening people – before allegedly stabbing a man and a woman, ABC7 reported. The woman – who cops have described as “emotionally disturbed” – then fled the scene and raced north towards the NYPD substation. Sign up for The Sun newsletter Thank you! Cornered by police behind the station, sources say she pointed her knife at the officers as cops commanded her to “drop it”. When she refused, several officers opened fire and struck her between Seventh Avenue West and 42nd and 43rd Streets. Horrifying videos circulating online show the woman – in a pink t-shirt and jeans – lying on the ground as police officers swarm around her – appearing to give CPR. The suspect has been taken to hospital in “critical condition”, reported NBC Connecticut. The two stabbing victims have also been rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries, according to ABC Eyewitness News. The attack was initially reported as a knifepoint robbery but police now believe the woman had no clear motive, police said. Most read in The Sun An eyewitness recounted the terrifying ordeal to PIX11 News, saying: “She ran by me at the corner and she had two knives in her hands. “She ran down, the cops went by, they surrounded her, talked to her for like five minutes.” Officers then tasered the woman, the witness claimed, before she rushed at them. That’s when she was struck the witness said adding: “They shot her twice.” Streets in the surrounding area have been cordonned off following the dramatic showdown. The NYPD said they have recovered the weapon as photos show a police woman holding a large kitchen knife. More than a dozen police and paramedic vehicles swarmed to the site of the shooting.
