Connor Storrie’s Camo Hat Can’t Hide His Buzz Cut

The Heated Rivalry actor has become synonymous with his glorious head of curls, so fans are reasonably stunned by the change in hairstyle.Courtesy of BackgridWe’re in the summer of buzz cuts. Erling Haaland lopped off his Viking-esque locks. Even Dan Stevens is hopping in on the trend (with an equally, ahem, buzzy blonde dye job). Now we can confirm that Connor Storrie has joined their ranks. The Emmy-nominated actor is currently in the Great White North filming the second season of Heated Rivalry, and some eagle-eyed Canadians have noticed their favorite faux Russian hockey player out and about sans his famous curly hair.Paparazzi pictures have surfaced of Storrie with a buzzed head, notably on the set of the popular Canadian hockey series as well as at a dinner with his co-star Christina Chang. Details about the new season have been virtually non-existent but we do know that canonically Storrie’s Ilya Rozanov doesn’t take a pair of clippers to his head in the Rachel Reid book series. On Monday, Storrie stepped out for a smoke break wearing light-wash denim, slip-on checkered Vans, and a hoodie strapped under a cross-body bag. He was wearing a camo hat that did its best to hide what was underneath, but there was no denying a freshly cut buzz was just waiting for its time to get a breath of fresh air.Last week Saint Laurent had released its fall 2026 campaign featuring the actor with a bouncy hairdo that some called his best yet. In an interview with GQ, Storrie’s hairstylist Candice Birns said his “modern mod” was inspired by the prolific ‘70s photographer Robert Mapplethorpe, who was a staple in the burgeoning punk rock scene. Whispers of a shaved Storrie were already spreading when the campaign debuted and fans clung onto the pictures for what once was. With confirmation of a shaved head, the fandom has been thrown into quite the tizzy. One Storrie stan penned an online tribute to articulate her emotions. They expressed feelings of being “upset and heartbroken,” and went so far as comparing the shearing to the loss of a personal loved one. Now, here’s a reminder that hair grows back (about 1 to 1.5 centimeters a month). Storrie might’ve become synonymous with long curly hair, but there’s certainly a lot more buzz around the new season of Heated Rivalry and how this aerodynamic haircut might play into the plot.Tyler Chin is GQ's associate wellness & grooming editor.
