He was 19.Gailey died following a motorcycle crash this past Saturday, according to his obituary.Cumberland Athletics released a statement following Gailey’s death.“The Cumberland University Athletics family is heartbroken by the passing of student-athlete Ethan Gailey, who tragically lost his life in a motorcycle accident over the weekend,” the statement said. “Our thoughts and prayers are with Ethan’s family, friends, teammates, coaches, and all those who knew and loved him during this tough time.”Gailey was a member of Cumberland’s junior varsity soccer team, according to his obituary.Prior to attending Cumberland, Gailey played soccer for four years at Harpeth High School.“Ethan’s passion for soccer began at just four years old,” his obituary said. “Soccer brought him countless memories, friendships, and experiences that he cherished.”Gailey is described in his obituary as someone who loved to be outdoors and enjoyed working with his hands. He was engaged to his fiancee, Lily.“Ethan was truly a great person who made the world around him better simply by being in it,” his obituary said. “So many people were blessed to know and love him. “His faith, kindness, laughter, and love will remain in the hearts of everyone whose life he touched. Though his time with us was far too short, his life was deeply meaningful, and his memory will live on forever.
