CJP claims breakthrough after new protest threat, says govt agrees to withdraw FIRs

The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) has signalled a possible breakthrough with the Centre, with spokesperson Saurav Das claiming that government representatives had shared draft notifications promising the withdrawal of FIRs, release of detainees and protection from future police action against protesters.The development came just hours after the two-month-old outfit threatened to revive its agitation and launch a nationwide protest, accusing the BJP government of reneging on commitments made when the 49-day anti-NEET paper leak protest was called off following the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on July 25.The commitments included the withdrawal of all FIRs filed by the Centre and NDA-ruled states against protesters and organisers, an assurance that no further action would be taken against anyone involved in the agitation, compensation for the families of NEET paper leak-related suicide victims, and to consider its five-point examination reform charter.In a post on X, Das on Monday night said government representatives met CJP leaders soon after their press conference and held discussions for nearly three hours. "They shared copies of the Bihar and Assam notifications guaranteeing FIR withdrawals, no action in future, and release of all detainees and arrestees," he said.According to Das, the government also assured the CJP that similar guarantee notifications from the Centre and other BJP/NDA-ruled states would be issued by Tuesday. "They've reiterated their promise of releasing guarantee notifications by the Union government and other BJP/NDA states by tomorrow (Tuesday). Hopefully, the agreed-upon language shall be used," he said.Ending the post with a message to supporters, Das added, "No protester will be left alone.
