Chilling moment shark stalks father and son on their small fishing boat for half an hour

Published: 05:37 EDT, 8 October 2026 | Updated: 05:48 EDT, 8 October 2026 A father and son were left shaken after a shark attacked their small fishing boat.Todd Lloyd and his son, Flynn, had a close encounter with a 2.5m shark while fishing near Windang Island, on the NSW South Coast. The shark circled their vessel multiple times and repeatedly nudged the boat and its motor.Flynn told WIN News Illawarra that he and his father had seen plenty of smaller sharks but never experienced a large predator attacking their boat.'I've only ever seen the little pretty harmless sharks, they're not very scary, but that one was definitely one you wouldn't want to see unless you're on a boat,' Flynn said. Worrying footage of the shark showed it purposefully gnawing at the pair's motor and banging into the side of their boat.'We've just been fishing around here, there's some good fish, then for the last half an hour we've been stalked,' Flynn said in the clip.Later inspections of the boat showed teeth marks on the engine. 'There's a lot of activity out there, and those ones are pretty aggressive,' he said. Several comments under the video identified the predator as a mako shark.Mako sharks are known to be aggressive but attacks on humans aren't common as they don't typically go near shallow water, like beaches.'Looks like a mako! They can be rather nasty!' one person wrote.Other commenters shared their own shark tales.'I had a similar experience several years ago. The shark bit the motor leaving teeth marks on it.
