Sichenje went down again minutes later and was forced off on a stretcher, with the defender inconsolable as medics carried him off. In a further blow for the Addicks, centre-back partner Billy Koumetio was also forced off before the 15 minute mark. The 23-year-old was holding his hamstring and ultimately hobbled off the pitch and down the tunnel. Charlton boss Nathan Jones replaced the pair with Lloyd Jones and Dan McNamara. Jones had been hoping to rest them both, having made 10 changes coming into the game, but was forced to introduce them early. Among those coming into the starting XI was goalkeeper Tiernan Brooks – making his professional debut having never played above the National League before.
