Jesse Love makes candid confession after tempers flare with Justin Allgaier at Bristol

There were fireworks late in the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series race at Bristol on Friday night. With Jesse Love putting Justin Allgaier in the fence for the lead with 14 laps to go, it led to some high drama post-race as an irate Allgaier stormed down pit road to confront Love. The incident hurt both Allgaier’s and Love’s chances to win the race. The Food City 300 ultimately went to overtime with Sheldon Creed winning the race. Allgaier finished P4. Love finished P17. The incident and aftermath As Sheldon Creed was burning them down as the Chase points leader in the O’Reilly Series, Allgaier marched down pit road to voice his displeasure with Love. The RCR driver never even tried to get out of his car as Allgaier leaned into the window and barked at him. Following the pit road confrontation, Love spoke with The CW. You could see his personal disgust with himself on his face. It was a great interview, albeit painful to watch. Love apologizes to Allgaier, expresses frustration with himself “I would have done a lot of things differently,” said Love. “Honestly, what happened was I got caught up in the moment, racing him. “I knew the last restart, I had to get a good launch when I got the front row and had to get a good through one and two and hit the line. And I was able to accomplish that. “Then I guess we came off a four, kind of still side by side, and I needed to run my best corner. And instead, I got caught up in the moment, racing him. “In turn, that led me down a path to make an enemy I did not need to make and make a terrible decision that took ourselves out of contention to win. So, I’m just really frustrated here myself. “Obviously, I owe an apology to the seven car. Not that that’s going to cut it, but also an apology to my team and everybody back in Welcome, North Carolina, because, yeah, I’m 21 years old and I’ve been racing since I was five years old. I know better than to do that. “And I just got caught up in the moment, racing him. And yeah, I just made a bad decision.”
