Celebrity Traitors star James Acaster has revealed an extraordinary face-to-face confrontation with Jerry Hall that BBC bosses cut from the hit show The comedian, 41, said the former supermodel, 70, cornered him over his secret identity as a Traitor - only for him to virtually admit she was right in an exchange that never made it to airHe continued: 'She went, "You're very sneaky." I was like, "I am sneaky, and it could be me." And then she was like, "Mmm", and then went away.'James admitted he had expected the extraordinary exchange to feature in the programme.'I was like, well, that's surely that's going in the edit,' he recalled. But the confrontation was left on the cutting room floor, with viewers never seeing how close Jerry came to exposing him.The ex-wife of Rolling Stones frontman Sir Mick Jagger was eventually banished from the castle as a Faithful, while James survived until the penultimate episode, when he unmasked himself as a Traitor.James also revealed that viewers were shown only a fraction of what he said during the show's tense discussions. He explained: 'I said a lot more around that roundtable than the edit would suggest.'The comedian said producers frequently removed his contributions to prevent viewers from guessing which contestant he was about to vote against. He said: 'Most of the time, they want to keep how the Traitors vote as a surprise. They don't want to be like there's hints that I might go one way or the other.'So a lot of the time what I said at the roundtable is cut out.'James also lifted the lid on the terrifying challenge in which contestants were buried alive in coffins, revealing that the ordeal dragged on as producers dealt with Jerry's decision to escape. James also revealed that viewers were shown only a fraction of what he said during the tense round table discussions James also lifted the lid on the challenge in which contestants were buried alive in coffins, revealing that the ordeal dragged on as producers dealt with Jerry's decision to escapeContestants had been told they would spend 15 minutes underground, but Jerry shouted the safe word, 'Haggis', to be released.James recalled: 'They give you a code word to shout that is so silly you don't want to shout it.'So Jerry Hall shouted Haggis, but the rest of us are like, I'm not shouting Haggis in a coffin. This is going to be televised.'He said he could hear the commotion as Jerry and fellow contestant Hannah Fry were dug out, leaving everyone else trapped underground. He explained: 'I'm hearing someone shouting Haggis, muffled. I'm hearing that person getting dug up. I'm hearing that person apologising to the other person.'Now they're getting the cameras in position again. Now they're doing a drone shot. And you're going, how long am I going to be in here for?'James revealed that he and fellow contestant Bella Ramsey were the last to be released. But their ordeal was far from over, as they then had to dig up graves in another physically demanding part of the challenge. He said: 'We went to dig up the graves. They properly, like, buried these weeks ago, months ago. Let the ground set solid.'It wasn't loose soil. As soon as I slammed my spade in, I was like, that's really hard.'In another recent interview James revealed that whilst lying in the coffin he considered quitting the show. He told Far Out Magazine: 'I was lying there thinking, actually, I think I'm really scared of this. As soon as the soil was heaped on top, Bella did say, "Imagine if they can't get us out".' Referencing Jerry's decision to quit the mission, he added: 'She didn't like it. She didn't like, well, none of us liked it.'No, I respect Jerry the most because Jerry just went, "I'm not doing this." Like, are you kidding me? And the rest of us were just like, "We want to win Traitors in our coffins, idiots".''We should have just done what - as soon as I heard Jerry got out, I should have said to Bella, "I'm getting out, forget it. If it's a free-for-all now, we should all get out. They can't stop us all. We could all do it".'In the end James orchestrated his own exit from the show in the semi final. At the round table Michael Sheen turned to James and quizzed him on the specifics of Ross Kemp's murder in plain sight, including how he knew about the deadly perfume bottle. Filming was paused as James became 'anxious' and had to gather himself before making his speech.'The pressure got to him, and it was clear he was finding it difficult. Everyone agreed filming should be stopped before things got too heated,' one insider told the Daily Mail.'Everyone was aware of the pressure getting to James throughout the series; it was difficult to watch him struggling.'James received all of the votes, and before his exit told his fellow celebrities: 'When I came into this experience, I told Claudia that all I wanted to be was a Faithful and all I wanted to do was go round this castle and help the Faithfuls as much as possible, catching Traitors.'I'm really proud to say that's what I've been able to do under the circumstances.'I am, reluctantly, a Traitor,' he added, admitting that a 'weight has been lifted off his shoulders'.The comedian has previously referenced his autism diagnosis in his stand-up shows, discussing how neurodivergence shapes his perspective and creative process. While some fans have called out James for 'ruining' the game just one episode before the finale, his co-stars and comedy circuit pals have rushed to defend him – while his close friends have revealed their shock at his unexpected move.Speaking to Alan Carr James revealed that contestants' movements were tightly controlled during their time away from the castle. He said he was allowed short walks on the beach before being driven back to his hotel in a car with blacked-out windows. He recalled: 'Twenty minutes. Get back in the car. Blacked-out windows. Back to the hotel. And then I was doing a jigsaw puzzle in my bedroom.'Podcast host Alan, 50, who won the first series of The Celebrity Traitors last year, also revealed how production staff once lost track of comedian Joe Wilkinson after allowing him out for a run.He said: 'I don't think the researcher with Joe Wilkinson realised how fast he could run. He ran off and it was code red: we've lost Joe Wilkinson! We've lost Joe Wilkinson!'
