Paramount+ Doc Series ‘The Real Wolf Of Wall Street’ Set For BBC & Stan

The Real Wolf of Wall Street, the Paramount+ documentary series about the life of broker Jordan Belfort, is headed to the UK and Australia. The BBC and Stan have acquired the three-part doc from Hat Trick International, which launched the program at MIPCOM Cannes earlier this month. Co-producers on the show are Maxine Productions, which is part of Sony Pictures Television, Bloomberg, and See It Now Studios, who made it for Paramount+. The Wolf of Wall Street, the Leonardo DiCaprio and Margot Robbie movie about Belfort’s wild and excessive life as a New York stockbroker and boiler room boss, was released through Paramount Pictures. To build up a picture of Belfort’s life, The Real Wolf of Wall Street uses unreleased footage, thousands of internal FBI documents, archival interviews, including insights from the likes of Belfort’s former wife, Nadine, who was the basis for Robbie’s character in the film, and former employee Donna Schlessinger. Watch on Deadline Belfort made a meteoric rise, leading a team of brokers at Stratton Oakmont in the 1990s, before he pled guilty to charges of fraud and stock market manipulation and was jailed for 22 months. He then became an FBI informant and gave evidence against others involved in his scheme. “We all love a great behind-the-scenes story, and The Wolf of Wall Street was such a huge cultural hit that we think we all feel we know this story,” said Sarah Tong, Director of Sales at HTI. “But this series gives us something completely different: The real people who were there, telling us for the first time what actually happened. “Its every bit as fascinating, outrageous and compelling as the movie – and we’re already seeing strong interest from buyers who know there’s much more to this story than the film could ever reveal.”
