CDAA advises adventure tourists to prepare and stay safe in the outdoors

Muscat: The Civil Defence and Ambulance Authority (CDAA), in cooperation with the National Risk Register, has issued safety guidelines for adventure tourists and outdoor enthusiasts, urging them to prepare carefully before embarking on trips and to know how to respond if they lose their way.As part of its "What If?" awareness campaign, the CDAA stressed the importance of planning ahead and following approved safety measures to reduce risks during hiking and adventure tourism activities. The authority advised the public to:Choose licensed adventure tourism companies and certified guides to ensure safe and well-organised trips.Stick to approved routes, inform others of travel plans, and carry essential safety equipment and reliable means of communication.Remain calm and stay in a safe location if they lose their way, immediately contact the relevant authorities or their guide, and avoid wandering aimlessly.Ensure trips are properly planned, as safe adventures begin with good preparation and end with everyone's safe return.The CDAA also noted that licensed guides possess the knowledge and expertise to assess risks, navigate approved trails, and respond effectively to emergencies.In case of an emergency, the public is urged to call 9999 or use the "Nida" emergency application to request assistance and share their location quickly.The authority reiterated that safety should always come first, encouraging adventure seekers to plan responsibly and enjoy Oman’s natural landscapes while following official safety guidelines.
