As Taylor Sheridan's TV universe continues to expand, one of the recent shows in the Yellowstone franchise, Marshals, is facing its first big letdown since its 2025 premiere. Although Marshals is a spinoff in the Yellowstone franchise, its a vastly different series than its predecessor. Following Kayce Dutton (Luke Grimes) after his time on Dutton ranch comes to a close, the CBS spinoff follows its central character as he starts a new chapter working with a specialized team of US Marshals to serve and protect Montana. Kayce's work is the focus of the show, but his life and team are both present, as well. While CBS has been seeing great returns with Marshals season 2, which has finally begun establishing itself separate from its parent show, the series' next episodes will come on the heels of a major disappointment for the show as a whole. Marshals typically airs on Sundays at 8 p.m. ET, kicking off the successful Sunday evening programming block on CBS, but the next episode of the series won't be part of this Sunday's lineup. While Marshals and Tracker typically make up the Sunday night lineup, November 8's schedule will interrupt things for the popular series, making a shift that could confuse viewers. With Marshals having maintained a consistent weekly release schedule since its October season premiere, the show's sixth episode won't be airing on Sunday, November 8. Instead, Marshals season 2 episode 6, "Roughstock," will come after the show's first big letdown during its successful run. Marshals Season 2 Is Going On Hiatus For The First Time CBS Although CBS' audience doesn't need to be worried about the future of Marshals, which is looking fairly bright so early in the season after some great viewership numbers, the next episode of the Yellowstone spinoff won't be airing this Sunday. Taking a hiatus for the first time in the show's run, Marshals will be going dark on Sunday, November 8 after a massive two-part episode airing over the past few weeks. While this isn't an uncommon practice, Marshals taking a week break so early into its second season is surprising, especially since the show hasn't done so in the past. Marshals season 2 is finally coming into its own, which means the series is taking a short hiatus at a tough time. With Marshals season 2 episode 5 having resolved a major story for the series, Kayce and the rest of his team are facing some major instability as they continue dealing with Cal's (Logan Marshall-Green) ongoing health issues, which will weave its way into the next episode. Although the last episode left off with Kayce and Andrea Cruz's (Ash Santos) relationship is growing closer, Marshals season 2 is taking a short break, leaving viewers without a resolution about what's to come between the colleagues as they grow closer. Why Marshals Season 2 Is Going Dark This Week Matthias Clamer/CBS While network TV shows taking short breaks isn't an uncommon practice, Marshals and its fellow Sunday series Tracker are taking a break for an interesting night on CBS. Late in October, CBS announced that Sunday, November 8 would be a special three-hour marathon night for its newest legal drama, Cupertino, giving the show the spotlight on an unexpected evening. Cupertino, which traditionally airs on Thursdays, will be airing a new episode on Sunday at 8 p.m., followed by a re-airing of the show's premiere and second episodes. Showing a trio of Cupertino episodes, CBS is making an unprecedented move for its new drama. While Cupertino is doing well in its own right, bringing the series to Sunday night's viewership is a smart move by the network in order to give the show more exposure. With Tracker being CBS' biggest series, and Marshals doing well in the hour beforehand, viewers who are tuning in for their typical Sunday night episodes will get the chance to see something completely different, should they stick around. Though the interruption of Marshals may not necessarily be welcome, viewers will get the chance to see another CBS series they may enjoy, while Kayce and the team will return on Sunday, November 15.
