CBS’ ‘48 Hours’ Moves Into Video Podcasting With New Show

The first in the new format will be The Woman in the Woods, a six-episode series hosted by 48 Hours correspondent Erin Moriarty. The move follows the increasing push toward video in the podcast industry due to YouTube’s dominance in the space and changing consumer behaviors, which have now led to streamers like Netflix and companies like Spotify moving into video as well. The podcast follows the true story of Mindi and Nick Kassotis, whose friends were told that the two had died suddenly within months of each other. However, a woman’s body, resembling Mindi, was later discovered in a swamp outside of Savannah, Georgia, calling into question the truth around her death. Throughout the six episodes, Moriarty also reveals that friends and family had been told the couple was being hunted due to Nick’s previous classified military work. The show is launching Sept. 16, 2026, on all podcast platforms. Video episodes will be released the same day as each audio episode, with the videos featuring never-before-seen interview footage from the original 48 Hours broadcast of the story, on CBS, alongside b-roll, photography and animated text. This adds to their series of podcasts including the main 48 Hours podcast and The Post Mortem series as well as other mini series like It Could’ve Been Me hosted by Natalie Morales.
