Cayetano tells Dizon to resist ‘pressure’ in Taguig project probe

Alan Peter Cayetano on Monday urged Public Works Secretary Vince Dizon not to yield to “pressure” following his pronouncement on Taguig City’s flood control projects. Dizon told ABS-CBN News that he would order a district engineer of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) to verify Sen. Panfilo “Ping” Lacson’s allegation that some flood control projects in Taguig linked to Cayetano were “ghost projects.” Cayetano maintained that Dizon had told him “three times” there were no ghost projects in the city. Article continues after this advertisement “I hope he would not be pressured and I hope he tells the truth because he told me three times that they verified and found no ghost [projects] in Taguig,” Cayetano said in Filipino during a social media address. “I admire him because he is Mr. Go Get It, Go Fix It, but I am wondering now, when Senator Ping said there is a ghost [project], suddenly [he said] ‘I will verify,’ while they verified it and said there is none,” he added. Lacson made the remark after Cayetano claimed during a Facebook Live broadcast that the net worth declared in the statements of assets, liabilities, and net worth (SALNs) of Lacson and Sen. Erwin Tulfo had doubled. However, Cayetano clarified that he cited the net worth of Lacson and Tulfo only as an example after the impeachment court tackled whether to grant a subpoena for Vice President Sara Duterte’s Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) and bank records.
