Cat Deeley addresses ’50-50′ parenting with ex Patrick Kielty one year after split

The pair announced their separation in July 2025, after 12 years of marriage. During that time, Patrick, 55, and the former CD:UK host, 49, had welcomed two sons together – Milo in 2016 and James in 2018. In a joint statement, Cat and Patrick communicated that their focus would be on their two children. ‘We have taken the decision to end our marriage and are now separated. There is no other party involved. We will continue to be united as loving parents to our children and would therefore kindly ask for our family privacy to be respected. There will be no further comment,’ the statement read. Now one year on, Cat has shared an insight into how post-breakup parenting works for them both. We’re very, very different people. But I just realised how hard they were working and trying to make it work for us. As Cat says, they were just doing their best.’ Cat currently lives in London, where she and Ben have co-hosted the popular ITV breakfast show since 2024. Meanwhile, Patrick divides his time between London and Dublin, where he presents the long-running talk show The Late Late Show. Returning to the series last September, he briefly alluded to the end of his marriage when he thanked the audience for their ongoing support. ‘One of the greatest joys of hosting this show is that you’re never alone,’ he said in an emotional opening speech. The pair remained friends for a decade before announcing that they had become a couple in March 2012. A year later, they married during an intimate ceremony at a 17th-century chapel in Rome. The couple separated seven years after welcoming their second child together, confirming that ‘no other party was involved’ in their break-up. Neither has revealed the precise circumstances behind the split, although it’s believed that Patrick ‘knew’ his marriage was over when Cat failed to attend his mother’s funeral. ‘Cat obviously knew how close Patrick was to Mary, and she should have come to be by his side, a hand on his shoulder as he buried his mother,’ a source told Daily Mail at the time. A spokesperson for Cat told MailOnline: ‘Cat remained at home to be there for her two young children before and after school on this very sad day.’ Cat is believed to have dipped her toe back into the dating pool following the split (Picture: Getty Images) Earlier this year, Cat was all smiles when spotted on a date with movie executive Charlie Coleman. Attending a Lewis Capaldi gig together in Hyde Park, pictures showed the pair with their hands placed affectionately on one another as the date progressed. An onlooker told The Sun: ‘The pair were all smiles, laughing and animatedly chatting. ‘At one point, Charlie touched Cat’s bare back affectionately, and she was also tactile with him as they sipped on drinks in paper cups. ‘They seemed very relaxed with each other and shared several jokes.’ Deals of the Day Topman’s new-season collection has arrived and prices start at just £10 An Instagram mattress left me with back pain – this one completely changed my mind Book Val d'Isère, Val Thorens and Tignes for less in Club Med's ski sale Save 25% on red light therapy masks, sauna blankets and sleep gadgets in Bon Charge sale The viral LED face mask with over 350 lights that's currently discounted by £100 Switched On Get plugged into the week’s must-watch shows, unmissable moments, and expert reviews with Metro TV Editor Sabrina Barr.
