Carson Daly Reveals New Role on Today Show

Carson Daly Addresses His Future at The Voice After Keke Palmer Host AnnouncementCarson Daly is now working six days a week. The Today weekday host will be expanding his role to the Saturday edition of the morning show, making his official debut alongside co-anchor Laura Jarrett, feature anchor Joe Fryer and meteorologist Angie Lassman on Nov. 7. “I’m thrilled to add Saturday Today to my weekday morning schedule," Daly shared in a Nov. 5 statement. "My kids asked if I’ll still make pancakes. I told them yes, but I’ll be making them for Laura, Joe and Angie instead." He added, “I’m equal parts grateful and excited for this opportunity.” But working on weekends is nothing new for the 53-year-old, who shares son Jackson, 17, as well as daughters Etta, 14, London, 12, and Goldie, 6, with wife Siri Pinter Daly. After all, Daly has been temporarily co-hosting Saturday Today with Jarrett since October, filling Peter Alexander's vacant seat after the longtime anchor left for MS NOW in March. And Daly's already seen quite a few changes in his resumé this year. In August, he confirmed that he'll be briefly handing over the mic to Keke Palmer to host The Voice's 31st season, dubbed The Voice: Celebrity.“Many today have asked if I’m leaving the show,” he wrote in an Aug. 5 Instagram. “Nope.” Explaining that he's simply "not the right host" for the upcoming season's revamped format, which will see celebrity contestants on the singing competition, Daly continued, "I am still hosting the show currently. In fact, I have hosted & produced every single second of the show since day 1, 30 seasons. 16 years." So while fans won't see Daly up on stage with season 31 coaches Joe Jonas, Queen Latifah and Riley Green, he'll continue to serve as a producer by "helping it launch from behind the scenes."Ellen Matthews/NBC"It’s a new concept than what has aired for 30 seasons aka the 'OG format' where regular humans sing, chairs turn, teams are built, one winner crowned at the end," the Total Request Live alum added. "We’ve already shot a-lot of it & it may be our best season yet!!" The Voice season 31 is scheduled to premiere in 2027. For more shows debuting in the new year, keep reading.
