Campaign to get passenger feedback to improve amenities concludes at Tiruchi Airport

Amenities being checked at the Tiruchi International Airport as part of Yatri Sewa Abhiyan. | Photo Credit: SPECIAL ARRANGEMENT A comprehensive review of passenger facilities and the quality of services was undertaken at the Tiruchi International Airport by the Airports Authority (AAI) of India as part of the Yatri Sewa Abhiyan 2026, which concluded on Saturday.“Passenger feedback, observations, and service initiatives were assessed to identify areas requiring further improvement. The focus remains on sustaining the improvements achieved during the campaign through clearly assigned responsibilities, periodic reviews, and continued coordination with all stakeholders,” said Airport Director G. Gopalakrishnan said.AAI had taken up the four-week campaign at the Tiruchi Airport from September 17 as part of a nationwide initiative aimed at strengthening passenger facilitation and enhancing the overall travel experience at airports across the country. The campaign focused on improving passenger services, cleanliness, accessibility, safety, sustainability, and responsive assistance, while fostering a culture of courtesy, and empathy among airport personnel.Comprehensive reviews and inspections were undertaken across the city-side, terminal, and airside areas to assess and enhance passenger facilities during campaign.Key focus areas included cleanliness and hygiene, waste reduction, and handling, passenger seating, drinking-water facilities, signage, and way finding, Flight Information Display Systems, baggage services, parking, and transport facilities, and amenities for senior citizens and persons with reduced mobility.Various stakeholders, including airlines, CISF, Customs, Immigration, ground-handling agencies, concessionaires, housekeeping teams, and other service providers were part of the campaign. Joint inspections and walk-throughs were conducted to identify areas for improvement in queue management, help desk services, passenger communication during delays and disruptions, and overall operational coordination.Medical facilities and emergency preparedness, strengtening family-friendly amenities, support for first-time and elderly passengers and promoting local culture were among the additional local initiatives taken at the airport, Mr. Gopalakrishnan said in a press release.
