A POPULAR high street shop is shutting its doors for good today following a closing down sale. The British stationery chain with over 400 branches all over the UK has confirmed the store closure. The branch held a closing-down sale with discounts of up to 70% off ahead of rolling down the shutters. Sign up for the Money newsletter Thank you! The retailer confirmed the closure as it works to secure the long-term future of the wider TG Jones business. A spokesperson told Wrexham.com: “As we work to secure the long-term future of TG Jones, we have confirmed that our Wrexham store will close. “We know this will be disappointing news for our colleagues, customers, and the local community. Our focus now is on supporting those affected and continuing to serve customers throughout the closure period. “We would like to thank all of our colleagues for their commitment and the contribution they have made to TG Jones.” The store’s closure has also left the future of a city centre Post Office uncertain. The branch, located on the first floor of TG Jones, closed last Saturday (September 12). Most read in Money A Post Office spokesperson said: “TG Jones had its Restructuring Plan approved by the High Court on 1 July, which includes seeking new commercial terms with landlords for the majority of their estate. “Consequently, TG Jones is to close their Wrexham store. Regrettably, Wrexham Post Office will close on Saturday 12 September. “We know how important our products and services are to the local community. We have already received expressions of interest from some retailers and we are now looking more closely at the interest expressed. “We want to open a replacement branch as soon as possible. In the interim alternative branches include Rhosddu, Prince Charles Road and Queens Park. Comment now
