BRITAIN’S second-best zoo has been forced to shut its gates today after a fire broke out on the site. Staff said are no animals were involved, but firefighters are continuing to tackle the incident. In a statement, the zoo said: “Hoo Zoo and Dinosaur World in Telford is closed to the public today, Monday 3rd August 2026, following a fire on site. Sign up for The Sun newsletter Thank you! “Emergency services are currently in attendance, with the situation currently contained in a specific area not involving any animals. “The safety and wellbeing of all animals and staff remains the zoo’s top priority, with teams on site working closely with the fire brigade whilst also working tirelessly to monitor animals in nearby areas.” The zoo has not said the cause of the blaze.
