The airline also recently added flights from Raleigh/Durham to Nassau, which Avelo Airlines had previously announced but then pulled. Breeze has eight new international routes that will launch from December through next summer. They're summarized at the bottom of the article. In total, 15 international routes are now available, involving six destinations beyond the US border. Santo Domingo joins San José, Costa Rica, and Montego Bay, Jamaica, in being new markets. Flights to Santo Domingo will be quite different, as they will revolve around Dominican Americans. On June 18, 2027, Breeze will lift off from Tampa International Airport (TPA), which is by far the airline's leading international gateway, to Santo Domingo's Las Américas International Airport (SDQ). Covering 911 nautical miles (1,687 km) on a great circle basis, it will become the airline's ninth-longest international route. In keeping with Breeze's usual frequency, two weekly flights will be available on the 137-seat Airbus A220-300, which is now the airline's sole equipment. According to the US Department of Transportation (DOT), Frontier's average load factor between May 2023 and June 2026 was only 65.8%. Some months had fewer than half the seats filled. Unsurprisingly, Frontier is ending TPA-SDQ service, with the last departure set for January 2027. As such, Breeze will have the airport pair to itself. With lower-capacity equipment and fewer weekly flights, the airline should perform better. Loading map… Drag to explore Where Could Be Next For Breeze From Tampa? Credit: Markus Mainka | Shutterstock Six of Breeze's 15 international routes are from TPA (Cancun, Montego Bay, Nassau, Punta Cana, San José, and Santo Domingo). It is currently the only airport in Florida from which the fast-growing carrier operates beyond the US border. In the 12 months to July 2026, booking data shows that approximately 1.1 million round-trip passengers flew between TPA and the Caribbean, Central America, and Mexico. Excluding seasonality, 3,000+ people did so daily. Around two-thirds of the traffic flew nonstop, with most of the rest connecting to another flight in Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Tampa, Dallas/Fort Worth, and Houston George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH). Prior to Breeze's launch of TPA-Nassau service, that short market had about 15,000 round-trip passengers. Using this as a guide shows that most other unserved markets are all smaller. The largest unserved destination in the Caribbean, Central America, and Mexico is now Los Cabos (19,000 passengers), followed by Liberia (14,000), Aruba (11,000), and Guatemala City (10,000). Will any of these places materialize on Breeze's map? Except for Los Cabos, the existing traffic is minuscule, which is not surprising. Still, Breeze's nonstop flights, relatively low fares, a reasonably well-regarded product, and hopefully strong promotions would grow those numbers nicely. For example, Breeze launched TPA-Nassau flights in June 2026, which grew traffic by 68% year-over-year. It also flies from Norfolk to Cancun (weekly to two weekly), along with Pittsburgh to Cancun (begins January 7; three weekly) and Punta Cana (starts January 7; three weekly). Then there's Raleigh/Durham, from which the carrier flies to Nassau (starts June 30; two weekly) and Punta Cana (weekly to two weekly). Service exists from Richmond to Cancun (begins January 8; two weekly), along with TPA to Cancun (starts December 18; two weekly), Montego Bay (begins December 19; two weekly), Nassau (up to six weekly), Punta Cana (two weekly), San José (two weekly), and Santo Domingo (starts June 18; two weekly).
