Blue Bloods' Major Reagan Family Member Is Reuniting With Danny In Returning Spinoff

Published Aug 7, 2026, 3:53 PM EDT Jeff Dodge (he/him), a published author and graduate of Western Washington University, has been a TV news editor for many years and has had the chance to interview multiple reality show stars, including Randy Jackson, Nick Cannon, Heidi Klum, Mel B and John Cena. Fun Fact: he’s been to every single Idol Live! Tour. An original cast member from Blue Bloods will return to the franchise as a guest star on Boston Blue next season. After Blue Bloods ended, CBS greenlit a spinoff series that would see Donnie Wahlberg's Danny Reagan move from New York City to Boston and join the police department there. Wahlberg isn't the only Blue Bloods star to appear on Boston Blue, though. Bridget Moynahan, Len Cariou and Will Hochman have made appearances, with Marisa Ramirez joining in a recurring capacity. Boston Blue season 2 will feature another Blue Bloods alum stopping by the spinoff. Will Estes, who played Danny's brother Jamie Reagan, is set to guest star in one episode. This news was verified by TV Insider after Wahlberg shared a photo of himself, Estes, Sonequa Martin-Green, Mika Amonsen and Marcus Scribner while crew members worked behind them. In his Instagram Story, Wahlberg said, "Welcome (back) to the family! Jamie Reagan! Aka Will Estes!" Image via Donnie Wahlberg Viewers also captured photos of Estes on set this week, and Wahlberg himself shared photos and videos from the set as the crew and cast returned to Boston to film. No details have been revealed yet regarding why Jamie will be visiting Danny in Boston, but this comes after production on Boston Blue season 2 began last month in Toronto. Other cast members on Boston Blue include Ernie Hudson, Maggie Lawson, Gloria Reuben, Kenric Green, Marc MacRae, Mike Vogel, Matia Jackett and Ryan Broussard. Estes starred in all 14 seasons of Blue Bloods as Sergeant Jamie Eagan, one of Frank and Mary Reagan's children. During the final season, Jamie worked on cases involving human trafficking and drug operations, and eventually earned a promotion. He also butted heads with Joe Hill, leading Frank to force them to get along. In his personal life, Jamie and Eddie Janko revealed their two-person family would soon grow to three. Eddie gave birth off-screen, which was revealed during the first season of Boston Blue. Estes hasn't appeared in any TV shows or movies since the end of Blue Bloods in 2024. Over the years, his other credits include The Dark Knight Rises, It Had to be You, The Secret World of Alex Mack, 7th Heaven and American Dreams. He's also guest-starred on Baywatch, Boy Meets World, Full House, Diagnosis: Murder, The Fugitive, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and In Plain Sight. Now the actor is returning to the small screen to reprise Jamie, the character he played alongside Wahlberg's Danny for 14 seasons, in a highly anticipated reunion for fans of the long-running franchise. Boston Blue season 2 premieres Friday, October 9 at 10 p.m. EDT on CBS.
