Bilt’s November Rent Day will offer up to $150 off a hotel booking, plus up to a 100% bonus when redeeming points for gift cards. The hotel promotion starts October 28, and you can combine it with Bilt Cash to further discount a stay. The gift card bonus is November 1 only. I’ll be checking my hotel offer. Minimum spending for the discount will vary by member and I don’t love that. And while doubling the value of gift card redemptions sounds good, gift card value starts from a very low base. Up To $150 Off A Hotel Booking, With Different Minimums For Each Member Every member will see three spending thresholds in their account, earning $50, $100 or $150 off a single hotel booking through the Bilt Travel Portal. The spending required to get each level of discount will vary. Bookings qualify from October 28 at 9 a.m. Eastern through November 2 at 3 a.m. Eastern. You don’t have to wait until November 1 to book, and you don’t have to stay during Rent Week. Taxes and fees count toward the spending requirement. The offer works at any property in the portal, with no blackout dates or minimum stay imposed by this promotion. You can use it for one booking, receiving the discount for the spending tier you meet. You can combine it with Bilt Points and Bilt Cash, but not with the hotel credits that come with a Bilt credit card. For Home Away from Home bookings, the discount comes as a statement credit to the card used to pay through Bilt. Existing bookings don’t qualify retroactively. If you cancel a promotional booking while the offer is still running, you can use the offer again before it closes. The Bilt Cash stack helps. Blue and Silver members can use up to $50 in Bilt Cash per month towards a 2+ night hotel booking, while Gold and Platinum members can use up to $100. The Rent Day discount itself doesn’t have the two night minimum. A Gold or Platinum member who meets their highest spending threshold and has their monthly Bilt Cash hotel credit available could take as much as $250 off s stay. I’ve used Bilt Cash alongside my Palladium hotel credits on stays I needed anyway. Ordinary portal hotel bookings can mean giving up hotel points, elite night credit and guaranteed status benefits. I’d factor those into the price comparison. A 100% Gift Card Bonus Tops Out At About 1.4 Cents Per Point All 125-plus gift card brands are included in the November 1 redemption bonus. The bonus depends on your Bilt status. Gift cards get you about 0.7 cents per point against the card’s face value, which would mean the promotion yields: Bilt Status Redemption Bonus Approximate Value Per Point Blue 25% 0.875 cents Silver 50% 1.05 cents Gold 75% 1.225 cents Platinum 100% 1.4 cents Blue, Silver and Gold members still get less than the 1.25 cents per point available through Bilt’s travel portal. Platinum members do a little better: 10,000 points would buy about $140 in gift cards instead of $125 in travel. I wouldn’t do it myself. I consider Bilt Points the most valuable transferable points currency because of their partners and the transfer bonuses they run. Last month’s Amtrak bonus got Platinum members roughly 2.67 cents per Bilt point in train travel, without spending Bilt Cash to buy up the bonus. And gift card face value isn’t always cash value. If you could buy the same gift card elsewhere for 10% off, the Platinum redemption is effectively worth about 1.26 cents per point eliminating its advantage over the travel portal. Jennifer Lopez, Free Rent And Neighborhood Events Jennifer Lopez is this month’s Rent Free collaborator. She’s playing Bilt’s game where members can win free rent, and more winners get added based on how well she does. There’s also a member-exclusive cherry-red vinyl pressing of LOVE? that includes the new track “Proof of Love.” Bookings for dining, comedy, magic and fitness open Thursday, October 29 at 11:50 a.m. Eastern for Gold and Platinum members, and noon Eastern for everyone else. Dining: November 1 meals at 45 restaurants across New York City, Jersey City, Boston, Washington, D.C., Arlington, Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Chicago, Las Vegas and Los Angeles. Most cost $35 to $78 or 2,500 to 5,000 points, with $60 or 4,000 points the most common price. Most are three-course menus, with a four-course meal at Hutong, omakase at seven Bondi locations, and brunch at The Saga, Surreal and TAO Chicago. Beauty & Essex, LAVO and Hakkasan in Las Vegas are $125 or 8,500 points. Optional drink packages cost $20 to $46 and must be purchased when booking. You can apply up to $50 Bilt Cash to one dining experience and pay the rest in cash. Comedy: 19 venues in 15 cities, with Jersey City, Charlotte and Washington, D.C. newly added. Shows run November 1–28. Standard comedy club experiences cost $40 or 2,500 points, except Mic Drop MANIA in Chandler at $30 or 2,000 points, and include two drinks. The premium experiences at restaurants and other neighborhood venues are $75 or 5,000 points with two drinks and light bites. You can redeem up to $50 in Bilt Cash toward a comedy show for the month. Magic: A new experience at American Cut Tribeca on November 9, with just 40 seats. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. for drinks and bites, and the show starts at 8:15 p.m. It’s $75 or 5,000 points for close-up magic, mentalism and stage illusions. Bilt’s entertainment benefit allows up to $50 in Bilt Cash per month. Fitness: Free November 1 SoulCycle and Barry’s classes, with 1,175 SoulCycle spots and 580 Barry’s spots available. Additional dining events: Bungalow’s Diwali experience takes place November 6. There’s also first access to a December 31 New Year’s Eve cocktail party at American Cut, at 6 p.m., with a premium open bar and passed canapés. That’s $250, with 20 seats available. Dining bookings close at 5 p.m. Eastern October 31 for November 1 meals, or at 5 p.m. the day before the other experiences. I’d use available Bilt Cash before points for these. A $60 dinner for 4,000 points is 1.5 cents per point. Apply $50 Bilt Cash instead and you’re paying $10 while keeping the points. And at Bilt’s headquarters members can get complimentary chicken shawarma or falafel from Mēdüzā Mediterrania, paired with a 12-ounce Secret Garden beverage, on November 1 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Double Points On November 1, Capped At 1,000 Bonus Points The Bilt cards will earn double points on November 1, excluding housing and tax payments: Bilt Blue: 2 points per dollar on everyday spending. Bilt Obsidian: 6 points per dollar in your selected dining or grocery category, 4 on travel and 2 on other everyday spending. Bilt Palladium: 4 points per dollar on everyday spending. The cap is 1,000 bonus points, not 1,000 total points. On Palladium, $500 in eligible spending earns the full 1,000 extra points, on top of the 1,000 points that spending would ordinarily earn.
