Big Walk Dev Is Aware Of The "Genuinely Unhealthy" Audio Issues That Players Are Literally Screaming About Published Aug 5, 2026, 11:28 AM EDT George is the Lead News Editor for TheGamer, and has been working in the industry since 2021 after graduating from the University of South Wales with a bachelor's degree in Journalism. Sign in to your TheGamer account Big Walk developer House House has confirmed that it’s working on a fix for the game’s audio issues that has left players playing the game with “genuinely unhealthy” settings. Despite how awful the industry has continued to get, 2026 has still been a stellar year for gaming releases and, as ever, that’s in large part thanks to some amazing indie games. Mina the Hollower, Cairn, Meccha Chameleon, and Mewgenics have all been giving us plenty of joy without all the soul-crushing baggage that triple-A games have been coming with. Earlier this week, another great example of this trend reared its charming friendslop head - Big Walk. House House’s next game after Untitled Goose Game was highly anticipated, but it’s surprisingly become one of the year’s highest-rated games and something everyone loves. Well, that is as long as you don’t mind your eardrums taking a beating. Big Walk Has A Big Audio Problem That’s Already Being Worked On Expect Steam Reviews To Get Even More Positive Since Big Walk launched earlier this week, players have mostly been having a grand time with it. That being said, there is a very clear problem with the game that crops up in a ton of its reviews on Steam, and that’s the lack of a microphone audio slider. Players have reported their friends being far too quiet in Big Walk with the current settings. Of course, that’s led to some just turning up the audio as loud as it’ll go to better hear their friends, which one popular negative Steam review calls “genuinely unhealthy” and left a “mild ringing” in their ears after a few hours. They aren’t alone, either, as all of the negative reviews point out the problem, with some labelling the game “unplayable” until it’s fixed. As pointed out by GameStop, Big Walk’s big problem is something that House House is well aware of. In an update post on the game’s Steam page, House House confirmed that it’s aware of the issue making voices too quiet and is already planning to fix it. Those Steam reviews clearly caught its attention. While “Big Walk is built around players getting quieter when they are further away”, House House admits that it’s “much quieter than intended even when very close by”. The team is working on an update now and aims to get it out there “as soon as we can”. Until then, you might want to hold off on playing too much Big Walk to save yourself a literal headache.
