Big Emmerdale twist as the truth about Jimmy is revealed and Nicola sobs

(Picture: Mark Bruce/ITV) Emmerdale spoilers follow for Friday’s (September 25) episode that is now available to view on ITVX and YouTube. The episode in question will air on ITV1 at 8pm. We love Sadie King (Patsy Kensit) – there’s absolutely no denying it, and we’re so happy to have her back in the village. She exists in the pantheon of ultimate soap bitches; she’s ice-cold, a master manipulator and wouldn’t know a moral if it smacked her across the face. But – and it’s a big ‘but’ – her besmirching of beloved oaf Jimmy King (Nick Miles), and making his grieving wife Nicola King (Nicola Wheeler) believe that her deceased husband had been living a double life, one with her and one with Sadie, is potentially the most evil and stomach-turning stunt she’s ever pulled. Of course, we know – and we pretty much always knew – that Jimmy was innocent, and prize cow Sadie was lying through her teeth about having rekindled her romance with her ex-husband. What it comes down to for Sadie – as history tells us it always does – is money, and her undying thirst for lots of it, and while she and double-crossing ally-of-convenience, Robert Sugden (Ryan Hawley), sneak around the village, desperate to get their hands on the £150,000 in cash that Jimmy sold his haulage business for, poor Nicola is wracked with grief. Nicola has been broken by Sadie’s lies (Picture: ITV) In yesterday’s episode, Nicola ensured that Vinny Dingle (Bradley Johnson) was arrested after she learned from him that his careless driving had been the reason behind the car crash that claimed her husband’s life, and found herself being comforted by unlikely comfort-er, Kev Barton (Chris Coghill). She also found herself in stark opposition to her best friend, Laurel Thomas (Charlotte Bellamy), who’d agreed to house her step-daughter, Gabby Thomas (Rosie Bentham), after she was expelled from Home Farm. It was a betrayal in Nicola’s eyes – Gabby had been the one to call Vinny, distracting him and causing him to swerve onto the wrong side of the road, leading to the crash that caused so much carnage. Horrified that Laurel would ‘side’ with Gabby, Nicola demanded that she keep her distance for a while. Today’s episode saw Nicola forced to convince to Carl Holliday (Charlie Joyce) that Jimmy wasn’t having an affair after children at school had been taunting him with the possibility. As she was backed up by Elliot Windsor (Luca Hoyle), she decided that now was as good a time as any to tell them about Vinny’s arrest. As they digested the news – Elliot in particular handling it with an enormous amount of maturity – Carl revealed his intention to create a video tribute to the funeral. Initially thrilled, Nicola’s blood ran cold when she learned that Carl had found an abundance of voice notes on a messaging app, and she took the laptop away, chilled to the bone as to what they might contain. A distraction came in the form of Mandy Dingle (Lisa Riley), though, who begged Nicola to put a word into court on Vinny’s behalf, terrified of losing her son to prison. Nicola’s abject fury gave way to body-wracking grief, though, and she found herself wrapped in Mandy’s arms. So close to the truth! (Picture: ITV) The two found somewhat of an understanding, with Mandy and Nicola finding parallels between Vinny’s situation and Angelica King’s (Rebecca Bakes), but Nicola was resolute – she needs justice. Emotionally fraught, Nicola opened up to Mandy about the voice notes, with the latter suggesting Nicola face up to what they could contain, just as Vinny is facing up to his fate. And she did, for a little bit, anyway, though she only heard enough that would back up Sadie’s vicious lies, storming away before the rest of the voice note revealed that his loyalty always lay with Nicola.
