Beyonce's mother Tina Knowles recalls her panic over her superstar daughter's near-death experience and details her own breast cancer battle

Tina Knowles, appeared on This Morning on Tuesday to discuss her new memoir, Matriarch. And naturally, the 72-year-old spoke about her superstar daughter Beyonce, 45, her four grandchildren and her own battle with breast cancer. Tina spoke to hosts Cat Deeley, 49, and Ben Shephard, 51, about the time Beyonce was flying above the crowd at a show in Houston in a car prop which tilted dangerously mid-air while she performed 16 Carriages in June last year. Tina said: 'It was terrible. I was on a platform, so I had to fight my way through the crowd because I knew what was going on but other people didn't.'But her being a professional, she kept singing and the car was turning and she was literally holding herself in it - because she would have fallen out. And it's raining..." and she's flying in a horseshoe and it's pouring down with rain.'Continuing the story, she said: 'That night, I fought my way to her and by the time I had got there, they had gotten her down, but she was holding herself in - she's an athlete, she's very strong.'She had to hold herself in to keep from falling out. It was so dangerous. She drives me crazy. Stop flying.'Tina said she was so relieved when she made it to Beyonce and saw she was OK that she couldn't stop holding her and her daughter said: 'Momma, I gotta show to do' and pushed her off. 'I was so happy that turned out that way, it could have been bad,' Tina concluded. The hairstylist turned fashion designer also touched upon her own health battle after she was diagnosed with stage one breast cancer back in July 2024 after missing a routine screening due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Tina said: 'As women, we nurture everyone else and take care of them and I missed my mammogram because of Covid. I thought I had it. 'They have no filter, they are very blunt, they say things just as they are, which makes me more free, not to have shame about certain things' (pictured, Blue Ivy) 'If I had gone earlier, I would have had stage zero. And if I had gone later, I would have had stage four. It's the gift of God that I finally went and had the time. 'I put that in the book because I want people to understand, especially women, that they need to go get their scans, they need to go and take care of themselves and make themselves a priority. 'Not making yourselves a priority, your kids can lose you, you're not even around for them, so it's really important.'Tina is now grandmother to four grandchildren, Beyonce and Jay-Z's children, Blue Ivy, 14 and twins Sir and Rumi, nine. Beyonce's sister Solange has a son called Daniel, who is age 21. Tina gave an insight into her grandchildren's personalities and said: 'They are the best, they help me to be free. 'They have no filter, they are very blunt, they say things just as they are, which makes me more free, not to have shame about certain things. 'They're like, "this is the way it is, let the world know, don't try to contain everything grandma, just be free".'
