Salt is one of several materials in Subnautica 2 that you'll need to find to craft items at your Fabricator. Specifically, salt is primarily used to make some of the best prepared food items currently in the game. Unfortunately, since it is such a valuable recipe item, you won't find it easily lying around near your base like you will Titanium or Quartz and will instead need to venture out a bit to track it down, ideally with some enhancements made to your oxygen capacity. Where To Find Salt Salt can be found in several locations in Subnautica 2, but one of the most reliable and abundant locations is what I've nicknamed the Coral Crab graveyard. This graveyard is approximately 530 meters south-south-east (165 degrees) from the lifepod you'll start the game in, and at a depth of about 70m. One of the easiest ways to find this area is to swim in this direction and look for the tall, thin rock formations. Some of them are so high that you'll even be able to see the tips of them above the surface of the water. This area does have a section that has increased temperatures you may not be able to withstand yet, so you may need to scoot around the southern edge of it a bit to reach the other side, where the salt is. The actual location of the salt mentioned, however, does not have these increased temperatures. Eventually, if you keep going in this direction, you should spot some dead coral crabs with shells that have also died and turned white. There are several of them, so they should be easy enough to spot, even if you're at surface level, and they're all grouped up on the edge of a drop-off. On each of the dead coral crab shells, you should find plenty of salt minerals to collect. Each one has anywhere from five to ten of them, so be sure to empty your inventory beforehand. Additionally, I'd recommend bringing a beacon, if you have the recipe for them, so you can mark this location. How To Find Salt If you'd like to track down salt on your own, one of the ways to do this is with the Scanner Station, which is a machine that you can build on your base. The Scanner Station will allow you to select a material, including salt, and show you all the locations where you can farm it. If you select one of the locations it shows you, it will put a tracker on your map that will lead you directly to it. Recipes That Use Salt As mentioned, salt is primarily used in food. The recipes that utilize it generally offer a better restoration quantity, and some of them even boost your health and water values, too, so it's definitely something you'll want to have on hand. Salt is used in some recipes as a raw ingredient, but more often it is used to make Sugar of Saturn, which is then used in several recipes. For that reason, recipes using Sugar of Saturn will be listed here as well, since salt is still required for them.
