Launch date revealed for series two of The Celebrity Traitors

The launch date has been revealed for the second series of The Celebrity Traitors.The BBC reality gameshow will return on October 1 with an extra-long opening episode at 8pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer, while sister show Traitors: Uncloaked will follow the main series episodes on BBC One, BBC iPlayer and BBC Sounds.Viewers will also find out how presenter Claudia Winkleman chooses her Traitors in Traitor Or Faithful? Claudia Decides – which will air on iPlayer.The date was revealed along with a new trailer for the series, which showed the celebrity contestants meeting in a church before a knock on the door, which was revealed to be Winkleman.Winkleman tells them: “(I’m) just putting the final touches to my favourite game, players, I have chosen my Traitors, the game is on, there are now killers among you. Fame won’t save them.”In the clip, stars including Maya Jama, Michael Sheen and Miranda Hart are then seen entering the castle.The full line-up also includes Amol Rajan, Bella Ramsey, James Acaster, James Blunt, Jerry Hall, Joanne McNally, Joe Lycett, Julie Hesmondhalgh, King Kenny, Leigh-Anne Pinnock, Myha’la, Professor Hannah Fry, Richard E Grant, Rob Beckett, Romesh Ranganathan, Ross Kemp, Sebastian Croft and Sharon Rooney.It comes after TV presenter Richard Osman and former The Celebrity Traitors contestant Joe Marler had appeared to have given away the launch date during a live edition of The Rest Is Entertainment podcast, where they claimed it would launch on the incorrect date of September 23.The show will see stars compete to win a cash prize of up to £100,000 for a charity of their choice.Set in a Scottish castle in the Highlands, the game follows the celebrity contestants – the majority of whom are known as faithfuls – as they try to seek out the murderous traitors among them, who kill off players in the middle of the night.Claudia Winkleman appears in a new trailer for the second series (Ian West/PA)PA ArchiveThe first series of The Celebrity Traitors aired on the BBC last autumn, with its nail-biting finale hitting a peak of 15.4 million viewers, according to the broadcaster.Read MoreIt featured a star-studded cast including actors Celia Imrie and Nick Mohammed, singer Paloma Faith, author and actor Sir Stephen Fry, broadcaster Jonathan Ross and comedian Alan Carr, who went on to win as a Traitor.The spin-off series brought in an average audience of 14.9 million people during its run – the biggest TV audience of 2025.
