ELECTRA AI and South Korean battery diagnostics company MinTech are working on a system designed to spot problems in battery energy storage systems (BESS) before they turn into failures. The technical collaboration combines MinTech’s battery inspection and diagnostic equipment with ELECTRA’s Battery Fleet Analytics software. The system will process operational data from batteries and use it to identify emerging risks in real time. The goal is to give operators earlier warnings about battery health instead of waiting for faults to appear. For large BESS installations, earlier detection could help reduce downtime, lost revenue, and potential safety problems. MinTech specializes in battery diagnostics and testing, while ELECTRA provides the software layer that analyzes the resulting data. The companies are using MinTech’s equipment data with ELECTRA’s Battery Fleet Analytics solution, which is delivered as software-as-a-service. Battery data becomes early warnings The system is designed to perform state diagnosis and deeper battery analysis while also identifying potential risks before they develop into failures. This could give operators a more detailed view of battery conditions across an energy storage installation. BESS facilities can contain large numbers of battery cells and modules operating continuously. Detecting a developing problem early can therefore be important for keeping the wider system available and preventing a localized fault from becoming a larger operational issue. MinTech’s diagnostic technology is based on electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, or EIS, along with proprietary diagnostic algorithms. EIS can be used to examine the electrical characteristics of batteries and provide information about their condition. ELECTRA’s software is intended to build on that diagnostic information by analyzing operational data and identifying patterns associated with battery health and potential risks. “MinTech brings deep expertise at the diagnostics layer, and ELECTRA brings the intelligence layer that turns operational data into predictive insight,” said Fabrizio Martini, CEO and Co-Founder of ELECTRA AI. The companies say the collaboration combines MinTech’s diagnostics capabilities with ELECTRA’s analytics and risk-prediction technology. Rather than treating battery monitoring as a system that simply reports a fault, the companies are aiming to make it more predictive. Predicting problems before they escalate That approach could be particularly relevant as BESS deployments grow to support renewable energy, electricity grids and data centers. Battery storage systems are expected to operate reliably for years, making continuous monitoring important for maintaining performance over their operating life. MinTech’s technology covers multiple stages of the battery lifecycle, including manufacturing, in-use applications, second-life batteries and recycling. Its diagnostic systems include EV battery testing, second-life battery energy storage and EIS applications for battery management systems. For ELECTRA, the collaboration adds another source of battery data to its analytics platform. The company says its software is designed to monitor battery systems and turn operational information into actionable insights. The partnership is currently a technical collaboration rather than a commercial deployment announcement. Both companies said they expect to explore additional cooperation in battery diagnostics, battery analytics and battery risk prediction.ELECTRA has also entered a definitive business combination agreement with Iron Horse Acquisition II Corp., a special purpose acquisition company.
