Barry Keoghan maintains youthful looks with £4,500 cosmetic procedure

The Saltburn star, 34, has joined the ranks of Hollywood celebrities investing in high-tech facial treatments, opting for a non-invasive skin-tightening procedure also favoured by Kim Kardashian and Naomi Watts. And while most of us are still trying to remember to apply SPF every morning, Barry has taken a more sophisticated approach to looking after his complexion. The Irish actor has undergone two sessions of XERF, a treatment developed in South Korea that uses radiofrequency energy to heat the deeper layers of skin and stimulate collagen production. Essentially, it’s designed to deliver firmer, tighter-looking skin without the inconvenience of going under the knife. Celebrity skincare specialist Nilam Holmes shared footage of Barry undergoing the procedure on Instagram, showing the actor reclining on a treatment bed while she moved a handheld device across his face. Wearing a white headband, Barry appeared perfectly relaxed as the device was passed over his cheeks, nose and jawline. ‘I’ve been hearing a lot about it and Nilam is very excited about it. And she’s brilliant at what she does. I really mean that,’ he explained in the video. ‘Every time I come in, it’s very relaxing and therapeutic. Nilam looks after my skin. I feel better about myself. I look better. ‘I think it’s important to look after yourself inside and outside.’ And apparently, feeling better about yourself comes with quite the price tag. Barry, 34, has joined a growing list of celebrities embracing non-surgical cosmetic procedures (Picture: Nilam Holmes / Instagram) A single full-face treatment at Nilam’s clinic costs £2,500, while a package of two sessions is priced at £4,500. Appointments last approximately 90 minutes, with the clinic claiming results can continue developing over several months and last between 12 and 18 months. Unlike surgical procedures, XERF doesn’t involve incisions, injections or anaesthetic, and is marketed as requiring no recovery time. It’s not known whether Barry paid for his sessions. He’s certainly in famous company, with Kardashian, 46, previously declaring the treatment her ‘new fave tightening laser’, although the technology actually uses radiofrequency rather than lasers. Meanwhile, Naomi Watts, 58, enthusiastically documented her own experience, declaring: ‘Feels so good! No pain. No downtime. Snatched.’ Kim Kardashian is also a fan of the expensive skin-tightening treatment (Picture: Instagram) Barry’s revelation comes amid considerable public scrutiny of his appearance, with social media users speculating about changes to his facial features in recent months. Following his appearance at the New York premiere of Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man in March, some questioned whether the actor had undergone cosmetic enhancements. However, Barry has never confirmed having facial fillers, and his newly revealed treatment does not involve injectable products. And while celebrity cosmetic procedures might seem like relatively harmless gossip, Barry has previously spoken about the very real impact that relentless commentary about his appearance has had on him. Earlier this year, he admitted that online criticism had become so vicious that he sometimes struggled with the prospect of leaving his house. Barry’s appearance has sparked speculation about possible cosmetic enhancements (Picture: Araya Doheny/Getty Images for SAG-AFTRA Foundation) ‘There’s a lot of abuse of how I look,’ he told SiriusXM’s The Morning Mash Up. ‘It’s made me really go inside myself, not want to attend places, not want to go outside.’ He continued: ‘When that starts leaking into your art, it becomes a problem because then you don’t even want to be on screen anymore.’ The actor, who shares son Brando with former partner Alyson Kierans, also expressed concern about his little boy eventually encountering the cruel remarks. It’s something of an uncomfortable contradiction for an industry that celebrates actors for their looks, then subjects them to endless speculation whenever those looks appear to change. Barry previously reflected on his unexpected heartthrob status following the success of Saltburn, telling GQ in 2024: ‘It’s nice not just being looked at as the weird-looking guy.’ ‘My prettiness didn’t get me this far,’ he added.
