You can reach them at James.t@thegamer.com The highly-anticipated Warcraft-themed Baldur's Gate 3 custom campaign, Forsaken, has just launched its first act on Nexus, adding over 20 new quests, 60+ NPCs and traders, 30+ combat encounters, with new creatures, items, equipment, and puzzles. "Forsaken is a custom campaign set in the universe of Warcraft," the description reads. "It is based on the Undead starting zone 'Tirisfal Glades' from World of Warcraft (Classic/Vanilla). It is not connected to the story or setting of Baldur's Gate 3 in any way. There's currently no voice acting, and Squally has no plans to implement it. "You play as one of the Forsaken; an Undead who has recently awakened to find they are no longer slaves to the Lich King," it continues. "Now you must find your place in this new world alongside other freed Undead as you fight to reclaim the kingdom of Lordaeron. Hunt fierce beasts, explore forgotten ruins, end dark rituals, slay zealots, discover magical items, and more in this custom campaign for levels 1–5." Don't Expect Baldur's Gate 3 Detail: Zones Are Designed To Be "Massive Like WoW" Mod author SquallyDaBeanz explains that the map is designed to "feel massive like WoW", so it's not nearly as dense as Baldur's Gate 3 is. With wide-open zones, there's a much larger emphasis on combat, with 3 new companions to recruit in the Deathknell Chapel. "However, the current implementation is temporary and exists purely to have a full party for combat encounters," Squally says. "A complete overhaul is in the works, but I chose to put it off for a future update." Forsaken features class-specific dialog and skill checks, just like the base game, "with plans to expand them further," but there are far fewer story choices. "There are over 20 quests to do but rarely any with branching paths, multiple solutions, or different endings," Squally says. "The world isn’t meant to react to your choices or actions to the level of BG3, though there are exceptions to this in some quests." With the mod installed, you simply need to create a new game to start playing. Unfortunately, however, a console port simply isn't possible. So, for now, this is PC exclusive. There is also no ETA on Act 2 yet, but Squally teases that they have plans for more class dialog, RP opportunities, items, NPC idle animations, lore books, and quests.
