Described as “a modern-day Thelma & Louise fueled by female rage,” the story follows “Isabelle (Madeline McGraw) and Kira (Xochitl Gomez) on a road trip home for spring break, when they pick up mysterious hitchhiker (Jack Champion), who is not what he seems.” Modem According to Deadline, Alliance Media Partners has acquired the rights to Modem, “a timely techno horror tapping into the contemporary human obsession with digital connectivity” from director Tim James Brown. Starring Josh Burdett, Amanda Renberg, Nika Tallroth, Fredrik Gunnarsson, Ylva Lööf, and Henrik Lundström, the story is “set against the backdrop of a family digital detox vacation in a house in a Swedish forest which takes a terrifying turn when a teenager discovers an old modem and unwittingly awakens a dormant, sadistic demon when it is fired up.
