Avengers: Doomsday & Secret Wars Quietly Add 2 Major MCU Writers

The Avengers are joining forces once again with some new additions, including The Fantastic Four and the new Avengers, as an entirely new enemy threatens the entire multiverse. Avengers: Doomsday is reuniting some familiar faces from the MCU, including Captain America, Thor, and more, and it's gearing up to be a pivotal movie for the future of the MCU as fans are eagerly awaiting more information as the countdown closes in. The Wrap has reported that Spider-Man: Brand New Day writers Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers are officially joining the team for Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars. The news was previously announced seemingly accidentally by Brand New Day director Destin Daniel Cretton when he stated the writers left production for the upcoming Avengers movies. In an interview with McKenna and Sommers, they confirmed the announcement and stated: Sommers: "We’re happy to say we are involved with the Avengers. We can’t really say much more than that. We love working with Marvel, and we have a relationship with the Russos, and it’s a pleasure. It’s a real pleasure." McKenna and Sommers previously worked on all four of the Tom Holland-led movies, including Spider-Man: Homecoming, Spider-Man: Far From Home, and Spider-Man: No Way Home. They also worked on Ant-Man and the Wasp as the pair are major players in the MCU, and they maintain a long-standing creative partnership with Marvel Studios' boss Kevin Feige. They are also known for being writers on the major sitcom series Community. Doomsday promises to be a major event with Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, Paul Rudd, Simu Liu, Anthony Mackie, Pedro Pascal, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, and more reprising their roles as some of the most iconic heroes in the MCU. One big return is Robert Downey Jr. who will be returning, but not as the beloved Iron Man/Tony Stark, but the very evil bringing the heroes back together, Doctor Doom. Avengers: Secret Wars is scheduled to arrive a year after Doomsday with characters such as Sadie Sink, who recently starred in Spider-Man: Brand New Day as the legendary X-Men mutant Jean Grey.
