NG+ is available right now for free, along with a bunch of new features to welcome players back to the shores of England. Title update 1.8.0—or, as Ubisoft puts it, "the most requested update"—introduces NG+, but Naoe's master assassin outfit, extra upgrades, the Stash, new achievements, PSSR 2 support, and updates to the Rune Forge. How NG+ Works In Assassin's Creed Valhalla Source: Ubisoft NG+ is obviously the headline, and it can be accessed right now by completing the Holy Day Quest in the Hamtunscire region. "This is before the true ending of the game but since it is a very big game, we've decided to allow you to start NG a little bit earlier," Ubisoft explained. "Each iteration of NG+ will get progressively harder, offering new challenges to players who want to revisit the Viking Age again and again." If you acquire a piece of gear or interact with a book of knowledge you have already read in NG+, you will instead be granted Mithril, a new resource added in update 1.8.0. Looting Carbon, Nickel, and Tungsten in a Wealth Chest will award you Platinum instead, previously a Dawn of Ragnarök exclusive material. With NG+ extending the shelf life of Eivor's adventure, Ubisoft has also increased the maximum level of Divine Gear from 13 to 27 to accommodate, which is where the new Mithril resource comes in. The Stash, Rune Forge Update, And New Achievements: Everything Else Included In Update 1.8.0 With the game growing even bigger, something Ubisoft pokes fun at in the patch notes, the team has added a Stash to Ravensthorpe where you can store gear and runes from your inventory to avoid drowning in clutter. The Rune Forge has also received a new upgrade menu—allowing you to improve your runes in exchange for silver and Mithril—and a dedicated page where you can "engrave all of the perks that have been added since the release of Assassin's Creed Valhalla, including DLCs and those purchased in the Helix Store." You need a weapon or complete armor set to be able to engrave the perks, which can then be placed on a rune in exchange for 450 silver. The update clocks in at: Steam: 7.8 GB Ubisoft Connect: 12.27 GB Xbox One: 13.8 GB Xbox Series X/S: 15.02 GB PS4: 13.42 GB PS5: 5.26 GB Lastly, there are two new achievements to unlock with the update: Ivaldi's Heir, rewarded for fully upgrading Divine Gear, and Circle of Renewal, which is earned by completing a NG+ run.
