Assassin's Creed Hexe Gets Official Update Alongside Cryptic Teaser

Published Oct 29, 2026, 4:50 PM EDT Ben Brosofsky has been writing for Screen Rant since 2022 and editing since 2024. He graduated from Vanderbilt University with a Bachelor's in Cinema & Media Arts. Writing serves as a much-needed distraction from tackling a backlog of Steam games that will never be surmounted. Sign in to your ScreenRant account Assassin's Creed: Codename Hexe has been on the horizon as the next Assassin's Creed game for a while now, but Ubisoft has continued to play the details of the project close to the chest. While the game's development is no secret, virtually everything else is, although leaks have informed the community on plenty of unofficially divulged details. We're clearly getting closer and closer to the big reveals, however, and Ubisoft just officially confirmed when some of them will arrive. It also dropped a cryptic string of letters and numbers, which might just hold a clue to the game's opening mission. The latest on Codename Hexe comes courtesy of the Assassin's Creed Fall 2026 update, delivered both as a YouTube video and a blog post on the official Ubisoft website. Ubisoft notes that "steady progress" is being made on the title, but disclaims that "there is still work ahead." While there's no date given for the game's release window, the "next major update" on Hexe will apparently arrive in 2027. In the meantime, Ubisoft offers the following code: ZKLWAVN MBEXNK ULYCNJ... LWY01... I#########F // QNTMAKHX TWTEMZL. YSIZKQ AADSWX NFAAMPHP.// Reddit user Financial_Ad_8387 thinks they're already cracked it, sharing a solution presented by using the Vigenère cipher with the key Mephisto. That presents the following: LOADING ANIMUS MEMORY... SEQ01... B#########T // CRITICAL FAILURE. MEMORY STREAM UNSTABLE.// "B#########T," unfortunately, is still redacted after using the cipher. Financial_Ad_8387 proposes "Blutgericht" as a possibility, which would track with what we know about the game's setting and premise. Essentially translating to Blood Court, Blutgericht is a term that's been used to refer to a number of specific historical courts held to punish various groups for perceived crimes. Codename Hexe is expected to focus on witch trials in the Holy Roman Empire, so the game's opening sequence could easily take place at a tribunal for those suspected to be witches. While it's all still very speculative, this might be the best official tease for the game we have so far. Assassin's Creed Codename Hexe is far from the only topic addressed in the Assassin's Creed Fall 2026 update. The final major update for Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced makes an appearance, which, following its release earlier this week, isn't exactly breaking news. More surprising is the introduction of New Game+ mode and several other updates for Assassin's Creed Valhalla, nearly six years after the game's original release. Ubisoft is also promising to focus on the core pillars of Assassin's Creed, especially when it comes to Codename Invictus, a multiplayer title that received negative feedback in testing. As for more remakes following the release of Black Flag Resynced, nothing is currently in active development, but the "door remains open." The final update addresses the impending 20th anniversary of the Assassin's Creed franchise in 2027, with Ubisoft "preparing a year of reveals, updates, rewards, and community moments" for fans to enjoy.
