Although Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced is an unarguably gorgeous remake of the original game that brings its fair share of new things to the table, it’s also fair to say that it’s cut a surprising number of features. For the most part, these features revolve around the game’s combat, which saw a big facelift. Whether or not you think that’s a good thing is up to personal preference, but it’s hard to argue that the removal of things like Hidden Blade and unarmed combat isn’t a strange choice from Ubisoft. It’s been explained away before and potentially even teased to return, but one fan has got sick of waiting and gone ahead and modded it in themselves. Black Flag Resynced Finally Has Unarmed Combat Thanks To Fan Effort I Guess It Wouldn’t Have Been That Hard To Include Ever since Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced launched, it’s gathered a pretty healthy modding community over on Nexus Mods. One of the more recent mods that’s gaining steam on the platform is unarguably the most exciting yet, as it brings back the unarmed combat that fans have been missing so much. The mod, fittingly titled “Unarmed Combat”, comes from Nexus Mods creator kamzik123 and does exactly what it says on the tin by letting Edward attack and defeat enemies using his fists. There’s no video footage of the mod in action so far, but I imagine it’s using the same unarmed combat that’s present in the tavern fight scene and then locked away. If you’re planning to download the mod yourself, you’ll need to equip the Officer Small Swords to have Edward put up his dukes. As great as it is to see unarmed combat back in Black Flag Resynced, there is still a small reason to wait for an official update from Ubisoft. As the mod description confirms, finishers still use the sword animations, which means Edward isn’t going to be skillfully knocking anyone out as he did in the original game just yet. Even with that very small and understandable caveat for a fan-made mod, it’s still cool to see the hard work of talented modders pay off, and to get unarmed combat back in Black Flag Resynced in just under a month since we started mourning it.
