Asda makes major change to shelves in over 500 stores across UK – and it will help keep track of your spending

ASDA has rolled out a major change to all of its UK Express stores, less than a year after it was first introduced. It is said to help shoppers keep track of their spending as well as pricing accuracy. This comes less than a year after the technology was successfully trialled at Asda‘s Oxford Road store in Manchester. Sign up for the Money newsletter Thank you! As a result, the business said ESLs have replaced the task of swapping out over 120k paper price tickets per week. The labels work by receiving information updates and price changes from the company’s central office instantaneously. This enables customers to view the most up-to-date prices as they shop in-store and helps simplify daily routine for employees. Shoppers will also be able to access better allergen and ingredient information on products, including bakery and loose items. Matt Harrison, director of Asda Express central operations, said that completing the installation was a “major milestone”. He added: “By removing manual pricing tasks, we’re freeing up time for colleagues to focus on serving customers and keeping store standards high.
