ARSENAL announced their title defensive credentials as they thumped Manchester City at Wembley. A rock-solid display was summed up by a crunching tackle on Doku. Riccardo Calafiori 7 Got Arsenal off to the perfect start by scoring inside a minute. Caused chaos all game with his runs forward. The only blot on his copybook was a silly booking for diving. Looks at home on the big stage and will surely stay now. Noni Madueke – 6 Got the nod over Max Dowman, who had impressed in pre-season. As he so often can, the England winger blew hot and cold before being hooked after 60 minutes. Martin Odegaard – 8 Put Arsenal three goals to the good with a finish that just oozed composure. Struggled all last season with injuries, but looks fit and firing after a good World Cup with Norway. Justified the call with a goal, although Gianluigi Donnarumma did not cover himself in glory trying to keep the header out. Subs Declan Rice (Guimaraes 46’) – 7 Eased back into action after an exhausting season by coming on at half time. Sat at the base of midfield and dictated play. Looks refreshed after a much-needed holiday. Bukayo Saka (Madueke 60’) – 6 Got straight into the action with a charging run down the right, before firing a shot into the side-netting. Promising signs in his first minutes since the World Cup.
