He was driving the SUV when the accident occurred around six kilometres from the Jaisalmer district headquarters, near the War Museum, while the three officers were returning to the military station from the city.According to police, the camel suddenly came onto the road, leaving the driver with little time to react. The SUV rammed into the animal, overturned around five times and skidded nearly 100 metres before coming to a halt. The camel also died on the spot.Army personnel and officers rushed to the scene after receiving information about the crash and rescued the three officers trapped inside the mangled vehicle. They were taken to the Army Military Hospital, where Major Arif succumbed to his injuries during treatment. The two injured officers, Lieutenant Abhinav Rathore and Lieutenant Ayushman Gusain, are undergoing treatment at the military hospital. Their condition has not been officially disclosed.Following the incident, local cop Jagdish Charan said the police reached the spot after receiving information about the accident. A dead camel was found lying by the roadside, while the black SUV bearing registration number GJ39CC1403 was found badly damaged near the Army boundary wall. Police said the vehicle lost control after colliding with the camel, resulting in the devastating rollover.
