Apple’s big roadmap for new Mac and iPad models revealed: report

A new report from Omdia offers fresh details on Apple’s roadmap for new MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, and iPad models in the years ahead. Here’s what it says is coming. Here are the new MacBooks and iPads in the works, per Omdia Omdia has published a wide-ranging report on display panels coming to new MacBooks and iPads. Based on the firm’s research into displays, it has published a roadmap of new models starting this fall and stretching into 2029. For example, the report says that following the introduction of the OLED MacBook Pro/Ultra this fall, there will continue being mini-LED MacBook Pro models available until at least 2028. This could support the idea of ‘Ultra’ branding being used for the OLED version. Second, the 13.6-inch 2029 MacBook is split out as a new model in Omdia’s timeline. But based on prior rumors, it’s possible this model is simply the OLED MacBook Air that’s been previously reported on by Bloomberg and Ming-Chi Kuo. MacBook Neo is conspicuously absent from the roadmap. But that’s likely because, as a budget product, it’s not expected to get any display upgrades for a while; that also explains why no base model iPads are mentioned. Finally, Omdia predicts that the OLED MacBook Pro/MacBook Ultra will have an M5 Ultra chip option. But the claim seems more like speculation than reporting.
