A.P. Vidyut Recruitment Exam for AEE posts records 80.40% attendance

Surya Sai Praveenchand monitoring the conduct of AEE recruitment exam at the Command & Control Centre at Vidyut Soudha in Vijayawada on Thursday. | Photo Credit: Special Arrangement The Andhra Pradesh Vidyut Recruitment Exam–2026 conducted on five consecutive days, starting August 23, to fill 629 Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) posts in the State power utilities, concluded on Thursday.The examinations were held without irregularities due to close monitoring and a host of measures taken to prevent fraud. The Computer-Based Tests (CBT) were held under strict security measures at 94 centres in Andhra Pradesh (81) and other States (13). Of the total 1,05,566 applicants, 84,905 wrote the examinations, AP-Transco Joint Managing Director (HR & Administration) G. Surya Sai Praveenchand said.For the civil engineering branch, 12,301 candidates appeared for the test out of 16,183 applicants and for the mechanical engineering stream, 6,411 candidates attended out of 9,444. Out of 26,237 candidates who applied for telecom/electronics branch, 19,947 attended. The electrical engineering exam had the highest number of applicants at 53,702, of whom 46,244 attended over two days. Speaking to The Hindu at the Command & Control set up at Vidyut Soudha, Mr. Praveenchand said the power utilities used to conduct tests separately. This was the first time that a common test was held. Stringent security measures included biometric verification, CCTV monitoring, centralised tracking and the installation of mobile jammers by Bharat Electronics Limited were in place. Thorough checking was done at the entry points using biometric verification, fingerprint/thumb impression capture, photo capture, original photo ID verification, and frisking. The most important part was the transmission of question papers to exam servers in an encrypted format and their decryption only after the scheduled start time. The JMD said the preliminary key would be released within three days and it would be followed by a seven-day window for raising objections. The final answer key, normalised scores and merit list were tentatively planned to be released in the last week of September 2026.
