Hot weather-drinking water The Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA) forecasts a heat wave across the country from Saturday, July 18 to Thursday, July 23, coinciding with continued high humidity levels, which will increase the perceived temperature by two to four degrees Celsius. The EMA expects a gradual rise in temperatures across most of the country, with the heat wave peaking on Thursday, when the perceived temperature in Cairo is expected to reach 40C during the daytime. The weather will be slightly hot and humid at night and during the early morning hours, and very hot during the day in most areas, while slightly more moderate along the northern coast. Maximum temperatures along the northern coast will range between 31C and 32C, while Greater Cairo and the Lower Egypt will see temperatures between 37C and 38C. Temperatures will rise to between 39-40C in Upper Egypt, reaching as high as 44C in southern Upper Egypt. The EMA confirmed that high humidity levels will lead to an increase in perceived temperatures, with 40C in Greater Cairo, 42C in Upper Egypt, and 44C in southern Upper Egypt. Weather maps warned of fog formation between four and eight am on some roads leading to and from northern Egypt, including Greater Cairo, the Suez Canal cities, central Sinai, and northern Upper Egypt. The fog may occasionally be dense on some roads. Satellites have also detected intermittent wind activity in several regions from Tuesday to Thursday, providing some relief from the heat during certain periods. The EMA urged citizens to follow weather forecasts regularly, avoid direct sun exposure during peak hours, and keep well-hydrated, especially given the continued high temperatures and humidity.
