The announcement comes in response to passenger feedback about what travelers want to eat during flights. The new lineup will retain some popular items while adding new offerings, such as Tate’s Bake Shop chocolate chip cookies and Peterson’s savory and sweet snack mix. The updated offerings will begin appearing on select flights in early October, with different snacks available depending on the time of day. American says the changes are part of a broader effort to improve the inflight experience through relatively small additions that passengers encounter throughout their journeys. Customer Feedback Shapes The New Lineup Credit: Simple Flying American tested different options but ultimately let passenger feedback be the guiding principle. Rather than replacing its existing offerings entirely, the airline is keeping several established favorites while introducing additional choices. Chief Customer Officer Heather Garboden said American wanted to understand what passengers valued most before changing the selection. The resulting lineup is intended to preserve familiar items while giving travelers greater variety during the flight. The approach reflects the role that complimentary snacks continue to play in the Main Cabin experience. Airlines choose these snacks purposefully because even though the individual products are relatively inexpensive compared with other aspects of an airline's onboard service, they are among the most visible interactions passengers have with the carrier during a flight. American also plans to keep adjusting the selection over time. The airline said snacks will rotate over the next couple of years as it continues gathering customer feedback. “As we looked at our snack offerings, we wanted to take the time to get this refresh right by listening to customer feedback and understanding what customers value most. This updated lineup brings together beloved favorites and new choices in a way that feels familiar, elevated and enjoyable.” Passenger Favorites Will Remain Credit: Shutterstock Morning travelers will continue receiving Biscoff cookies, which American recognizes as a customer favorite. The airline will continue pairing the cookies with Lavazza coffee, while adding Goldfish to morning service to provide a savory alternative. Goldfish will also remain available later in the day. The decision to retain Biscoff reflects American's effort to balance familiarity with new products. Travelers who already associate the cookie with the carrier's onboard service (much like with Delta Air Lines) will still find it available, while passengers seeking something different will have additional options. American has not indicated that every snack will be available on every flight. Instead, the airline is organizing the selection around the time of day and the specific service being offered, meaning the assortment passengers encounter may vary depending on when they travel. New Choices Arrive Later In The Day Credit: American Airlines The most significant additions are Tate's Bake Shop chocolate chip cookies and Peterson's savory and sweet snack mix. Both will join the existing Goldfish offering later in the day, expanding the selection beyond the traditional single-snack format. The mix gives American a combination of sweet and savory choices without requiring passengers to purchase an additional item, aligning with the airline's stated goal of creating more choice within its service. The snack refresh also forms part of a wider effort by American to enhance its onboard product. Earlier this year, the carrier recently announced centennial-inspired inflight menus and new California wines, placing the snack changes within a broader series of food and beverage updates. For passengers, the immediate changes will be modest but noticeable. The airline's decision to keep testing and rotating items suggests the October launch is not intended to be the final version of its Main Cabin snack program. American says travelers can expect more choices in 2027 as it continues using customer feedback to shape the selection.
