Alhaji’s IPO is setting fire across the continent. It is billed as the biggest ever in Africa. The N2.15 trillion IPO is truly earth-shaking, and the markets are bristling with excitement as it readies to gobble up all of it. This would deepen market capitalisation, throwing up a lot of “small, small billionaires.” But let me state this: despite all this, Alhaji will still hold at least 84.34% of the company spread across four corporate vehicles and at a full N77.7 trillion valuation, it will be a long stretch for anyone to attempt a “takeover.” This was how he blew up the market that year with his Dangote Sugar IPO. I was still a stockbroker then and made money like water. Kai, I sold and sold and made commissions and fees that even made me become a temporary millionaire. I even started marrying wives and living like a rap star. Now the Baba has come again, and I am here writing a column for Davidson when my mates are making crazy sweet money. Anyways, let me just say congratulations to Alhaji – na man you be.
