The route will operate up to three times a week starting March 18 and will be served by the airline's Boeing 737-800 aircraft. Demand for travel to the Mexican state of Jalisco remains popular for West Coast travelers, and Alaska will become the third carrier serving the city pair. Volaris and Aeromexico already operate nonstop flights to Guadalajara from Seattle. Alaska Airlines Adds Nonstop Flights To Guadalajara From March Credit: Robin Guess | Shutterstock In mid-March, oneworld alliance partner Alaska will serve Seattle to Guadalajara for the first time. The airline has never operated to Guadalajara from Seattle before, and will join the incumbent Volaris, which has been operating the route since 2016. Aeromexico also began serving the route in 2025, and will provide stiff competition for Alaska Airlines' three-weekly service. With Alaska joining the group of airlines on the city pair, this will mark the first time three airlines have all operated the route concurrently. Alaska Airlines Cuts Two Routes To Hawaii For The Winter Credit: Tada Images | Shutterstock As captured by Enilria, Alaska will also shelve two routes to Hawaii for the upcoming winter season. Alaska will terminate its Sacramento International Airport (SMF) to Lihue (LIH) service, which it has continuously operated since April. Services from Sacramento to Kailua/Kona (KOA) are also being axed. These changes come as the airline continues to trim and reshuffle its West Coast network. This strategy is to eliminate those underperforming and low-demand routes and optimize overall capacity with Hawaiian Airlines. Continued high operational costs as a result of increasing fuel costs have seen the airline look to streamline routes, but also drop thinner routes that experience soft demand. These changes come in the same week that the airline also announced plans to restore an international service from Alaska to Asia, with the carrier planning to operate from Anchorage International Airport (ANC) to Tokyo Narita Airport (NRT) starting next year.
