The biggest game of the month is undoubtedly Grand Theft Auto 6, which is one of the most anticipated entertainment events of all time. But Rockstar’s magnum opus isn’t coming to Switch 2 — not yet, anyway. That said, there are still plenty of intriguing new games coming out for Nintendo’s hybrid console in November. Here are five that we’re especially excited about. 5 The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake Release date: Nov. 5 November’s biggest Switch 2 release just happens to be a console exclusive — and it’s the perfect contrast to all the lurid excess of GTA 6. The Nintendo 64 classic revolutionized 3D game designed with its player-controlled camera, lock-on combat, and contextual controls. This top-down remake ditches the original's low-poly asethetic for a sumptuous toyland art style and modernized controls. After a 30-minute hands-on preview in October, Polygon’s Michael McWhertor came away thoroughly impressed. “One impression of the remake remained consistent throughout my hands-on time: Nintendo’s new Zelda is snappy, streamlined, and polished in ways that make it feel totally fresh,” he wrote. 4 Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy: Encore Edition Release date: Nov. 5 2020’s Marvel’s Avengers cast a long and unflattering shadow, owing to its tedious endgame loop and aggressive live-service monetization. But Eidos-Montréal’s Guardians of the Galaxy is something altogether different. This single-player action-adventure game balances spectacle with heartfelt moments — and it has a killer soundtrack bursting with ‘80s bangers. Ensemble casts can often feel a little too yappy, but the banter here is genuinely funny and doesn’t grow tiresome. Guardians was nominated for four Game Awards and ultimately took home the prize for Best Narrative. The Encore Edition is exclusive to Switch 2 and includes a new set of glam rock outfits for Star-Lord, Drax, Gamora, Rocket and Groot. 3 Stellar Blade Complete Edition Release date: Nov. 5 Put aside the exhausting internet discourse surrounding Stellar Blade’s protagonist Eve, and you’re left with a rock-solid action game that will put your countering and parrying skills to the test. As Eve, you’re tasked with reclaiming Earth from a hostile alien species, and along the way you’ll piece together the dramatic events that lead to the fall of civilization. Though the customization and skill tree leave a bit to be desired compared to similar character action games, the exhilarating combat and roller-coaster final act make for a memorable 20-25-hour experience. Release date: Nov. 12 This acclaimed 2023 RPG takes Atlus’s trademark combo of dungeon crawling and social sim elements from the Persona series and applies it to an entirely new world. Instead of a Japanese high school, Metaphor takes place in a medieval fantasy realm after the assassination of its King. In order to determine his successor, aspiring rulers must compete in a Royal Tournament and rally support from people throughout the nation. With an endearing ensemble cast, bonkers enemy designs, and some fantastically devious dungeons, this 80-hour epic will keep you entertained throughout the crisp autumn days. There’s a demo available now in the Nintendo eShop and your progress will carry over to the full game. 1 Pikmin 4 – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Dandori Academy Release date: Nov. 12 Nintendo’s chill real-time strategy game from 2023 is getting a Switch 2 glow-up. Despite some occasional hitches with combat and excessive pop-up suggestions, Pikmin 4 is a deeply optimistic and cheerful experience. In Polygon’s review from July 2023, Emily Price noted, “Pikmin 4 accomplishes maybe the best thing a piece of media can do — it makes the real world seem more wondrous than it did before.” The Switch 2 version features enhanced visuals, the ability to issue voice commands to your dog friend Oatchi, and the Dandori Academy treasure-collection challenge mode.
