They booked 40 cases on August 28.According to BTP sources, 1,476 water tanker drivers were screened for drunk driving across Bengaluru between 6 a.m. and 9 a.m.The drive followed a non-fatal accident on CDP Road near Gunjur Palya at Whitefield. A water tanker crashed into a bike. The truck ran over the bike, but the rider survived. The tanker driver was arrested.A senior officer said there had been several complaints of rash and negligent driving of water tankers, prompting the police to plan a special drive. The trend of tanker-related accidents is being analysed, the officer said.The BTP booked individuals, who tested positive for drunk driving, under the Indian Motor Vehicles Act. Further, the BTP has written to the respective regional transport offices recommending suspension of the driving licences of all drivers found to be driving under the influence of alcohol.
